Peter McManners has held a diverse range of senior positions across a number of sectors. His early career was in the military, serving in airborne forces and later Defence Intelligence, including deployments to Central America, the South Atlantic, Australia, Africa and continental Europe. As a young Lieutenant Colonel he left the forces and completed an MBA to facilitate applying his military experience to other sectors. He was Chief Operating Officer (COO) of an organisation forging connections between academia, science and business including incubating over a 100 early stage technology companies. He followed this with a Chief Executive role in high performance sport (following his passion for endurance sport having represented GB at triathlon). Between 2004 and 2008, he lived in Finland and was appointed onto the faculty of Henley Business School teaching strategy and the global business environment throughout Scandinavia and the Nordic countries. On returning to the UK, he continued to teach for Henley Business School, carrying out research into strategic sustainability, consulting and writing. His current area of interest is the interface between sustainability and economics and the impact this will have on the political and business environment. His recent focus has been the aviation industry and the potential impact of measures to address climate change.
